Overview
Lanza-3D is Indra's family of solid-state, planar-array 3D air-surveillance radars, built around a common architecture but offered as a medium-range ground variant (Lanza-MRR), a long-range ground variant (Lanza-LRR) and a navalised version fitted to Spanish Navy ships including an LHD. The long-range variant provides 360-degree azimuth coverage out to a 470 km (255 nm) instrumented range and up to 100,000 ft of altitude coverage, scanning every 10-12 seconds, while the medium-range variant trades range (60-180 nm) for a faster 3-10 second scan and wider elevation coverage. Both variants combine distributed solid-state transmitter modules, ultra-low-sidelobe antenna design and adaptive MTI/MTD clutter suppression for resistance to jamming and detection of stealth-protected or low-level targets, and both carry an integral Mode 4/Mode S IFF system. The Spanish Air Force procured 10 long-range Lanza radars for its SIMCA (Sistema Integrado de Mando y Control Aereo) network from 2000, and Indra has since delivered Lanza radars to Portugal under a NATO programme, to Uruguay for combined military/civil air-traffic use, and more recently to Oman, Thailand and the UK's Royal Air Force; a shorter-range tactical derivative, the Lanza LTR-25, has also been supplied to Ukraine for long-range drone detection.
