M-LIDS (Mobile-Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aircraft Integrated Defeat System) is a US Army short-range counter-drone system with Leonardo DRS as prime integrator. In its current fielded configuration it pairs two Oshkosh M-ATV mine-resistant, ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles operating together: one carries Leonardo DRS's mast-mounted SABRE electro-optical/infrared sensor suite for detection and tracking, while the second carries a Moog-built Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform (RIwP) turret armed with a 30mm XM914 automatic cannon, a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, and RTX (Raytheon) Coyote counter-UAS interceptors, cued by Raytheon's KuRFS/Ku-720 360-degree AESA radar and a Northrop Grumman Forward Area Air Defense Command and Control (FAAD C2) battle-management system. Leonardo DRS has held the program since a 2017 production contract, followed by further engineering and production awards through 2023, including a five-year, $189.8 million contract awarded in July 2020. Under Increment 2.1, initiated in 2022, the Army and Leonardo DRS are consolidating the two-M-ATV configuration onto a single Stryker vehicle to cut cost, ease sustainment, and reduce the crew from around eight soldiers across two vehicles to roughly four on one. Leonardo DRS and BlueHalo have separately demonstrated a related C-UAS Directed Energy Stryker, adding a 26kW LOCUST laser weapon and 2.75-inch Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System rockets alongside the RIwP cannon on a Stryker hull, though that laser-armed configuration remains a demonstrator rather than the fielded M-LIDS baseline.
