John Cockerill Defense

Cockerill 3105

A two-person, 105mm modular gun turret from John Cockerill Defense built for retrofitting light and medium armored vehicles, tanks and even wheeled platforms with tank-killing firepower. An automatic loader and a high-elevation, aluminum-armored turret shell keep weight roughly three tonnes below older 105mm turret designs.

Overview

The Cockerill 3105 is the 105mm-armed member of John Cockerill Defense's modular Cockerill 3000 Series turret family, pairing a 105mm high-pressure rifled gun with an automatic ammunition loader that stores ready rounds for reloading under armor without exposing the crew. Its welded aluminum-armor construction saves roughly three tonnes over earlier steel 105mm turrets, and a +42-degree maximum gun elevation gives it useful engagement angles in urban and mountainous terrain that many older tank/tank-destroyer turrets lack. Digital fire control and hunter-killer sights let the commander and gunner independently acquire and engage targets. Because the turret is designed to bolt onto a wide range of hulls, it has been demonstrated or fielded on upgrade programmes for aging Leopard 1 and M60 tank hulls as a low-cost light tank-killer conversion, alongside wheeled 6x6/8x8 platforms.
