Overview
The Milkor MGL-140 (factory designation Mk1L, sold in the United States by Milkor USA as the AV-140 Multi-Shot Grenade Launcher) shares the base MGL's six-round, spring-driven revolver cylinder and double-action firing mechanism but lengthens the cylinder to 140mm, allowing it to chamber grenades up to 142mm long. That extra length lets the weapon fire the higher-velocity, longer-range 40x51mm medium-velocity grenade family in addition to the standard 40x46mm low-velocity rounds the original MGL is limited to, extending effective range from 375m to roughly 800m and increasing per-round lethality, while all six rounds can still be fired in three seconds or less. The weapon uses a stainless-steel receiver with an NP3 (Teflon-impregnated nickel) coating for corrosion resistance, progressive-twist rifling, and a collapsible recoil-pad stock, and is offered with interchangeable 8-inch or 12-inch barrels. It is a genuinely distinct product from the base MGL rather than a cosmetic variant, since the longer cylinder unlocks an entire additional, more capable ammunition family.
