Overview

Barkan is HAVELSAN's tracked medium-class unmanned ground vehicle, developed to win the Turkish Land Forces Command's medium-class UGV competition. It has been in Turkish Armed Forces inventory since 2023, and Turkey's SSB approved a move to serial production in May 2025 after operational success. The platform is fitted with a Unirobotics Trakon Lite remote weapon station carrying a Repkon RDS40-AGL 40mm automatic grenade launcher, and has also test-fired the Roketsan METE laser-guided mini-missile as a compatible weapon option. Barkan runs under supervised autonomy and is designed to be swarm-capable, coordinating with HAVELSAN's Baha and Bozbey UAVs. Published cargo payload is given as a 200-400kg range depending on configuration; this record uses the 300kg midpoint. Rated operating temperature spans -20C to +52C. Note: an earlier, version-dependent public figure cites an empty weight of about 500kg for Barkan, differing from the 380kg figure used in this record; this is likely a different production version, and the two figures are not merged.
